Easter Crosses

Good Shepherd News

April 10, 2020

Today we remember Jesus' death, removal from the cross, and burial in the tomb.  His crucifixion and death were intended to stamp out this upstart group who were talking about a new kind of king, a real Son of God, who would change the world.

As we move through our Holy Weekend, remember that the same cross that was a hideous form of execution would become a sign of comfort, peace, and everlasting life.  It would indeed change the world, in ways too numerous to count.  Even now, the love of Christ is calling people to sacrificial love, love we see lived out in numerous responses to the COVID-19 threat.  The cross is indeed a symbol of new life.

On Sunday, please share a photo of your flower cross that you decorate at your house.  It doesn't have to be fancy or grand; in fact, the simpler, the better!  You can use two sticks or branches, wrap them together into a bare cross shape to use today, and put flowers on it on Sun.  You could also use a cross that you have in your house to tape or affix flowers to.

Share your photos on the FaceBook page or send them to Rev. Celia, we will create a collage to share with parishioners. In the meantime, here is a photo from last year.
